Hello all, I'm editing nodes of paths often and need to change their position (move the node up, down, left or right). Also, I'm creating lines with Draw freehand tool (F6) and then positioning nodes of these. Is there a way to change default keys of movement (in Corel this called "nudge") from standard cursor movement keys to WASD? or ESDF. It would be nice if these keys acts as movement keys only if Inkscape is in Edit paths mode (F2).
I found there is no actions related to "nudge", "move node up/down/etc" in Keyboard shortcuts settings.
If this can be reached via extensions, I need help with these questions:
1. How to translate currently selected node on path (i. e. how to make four extensions, which move ONLY currently selected nodes in desired direction - up, down, left or right, with paying attention to Behavior->Steps settings->Arrow keys move by),
and 2. If these extensions are possible, how to restrict operaion to certain mode (e. g. only while Caps Lock is on).
The keys can be remapped at the user's discretion.
The information is cleverly hidden in the first paragraph of the Keys and Mouse reference:
".,..some (not all) of these shortcuts are configurable by the user. You can create custom shortcuts and load custom keyboard shortcut files in the Inkscape Preferences, or by following the instructions in the default.xml file."
The Keys and Mouse reference is cleverly hidden in Inkscape's Help menu:
So, to clarify: The shortcut for moving nodes is not configurable currently, as the OP has already found out - that was their complaint.
@VoodooDoll You can make a feature request for making that keyboard shortcut configurable at https://inkscape.org/report - please also check for other reports, I think there have been multiple requests for this already, but I'm not sure if they made it into our new bug tracker already.

Yes, but my question is how to also invoke this via WASD keys, not cursor keys only.
