First time posting on here. I'm hoping the community can help me with in an issue I am having, or can at least point me in the direction of a post with a similar query where the question has already been answered.
I am running Inkscape 1.2.2.
I have created two shapes, representing two geological units - a granite and BIF. I have used the inverse clipping function on the BIF unit to create a clipped shape which fits perfectly with the granite (Pic 1, 2).
This works as expected and just fine. I would like to move the BIF unit to be in the layer above the granite, which is where the problem occurs. When I move the BIF to a higher layer the shape changes to the inverse of the clipped shape - i.e the shape I do not want (pic 3).
Does anyone know why this is happening or a work around for it?

I'm not sure the cause, but I'd consider shaping the BIF object by using a duplicate of the Granite object as a difference operation tool.
Beautiful thank you very much Tyler! That wasn't a tool I was aware of. Seems to be doing the job with changing the BIF layering now.
Very much appreciate your help.
