Here's another method. Select your vertically stacked text objects and open the Transform dialog [shift+ctrl+m]. In the rotate tab, set an angle and [Apply to each object separately: No] and [Apply]. Now reverse the rotation direction, [Apply to each object separately: Yes] and [Apply] again.
[click-drag] "One" to its desired position, then do the same for "Eight". Select all. Open the Align and Distribute dialog [shift+ctrl+a]. In the [Align] tab, [Distribute text anchors horizontally] and [Distribute text anchors vertically].
Hi I am trying to find an easy way to align multiple lines of text along an angled line so that they are distributed vertically.
I know I can align one at a time but it would be much easier to apply an alignment to all of them.

I'd try text in a shape.

Yet another method. (Now I'm showing off.)
