Hi. I would like some help and assistance in creating this awesome looking Trinity Spiral Effect on Inkscape that was done on illustrator in this Video on Inkscape. The main difficulty is that I don't know the Illustrator Tools language that is equivalent in Inkscape. All I really need is name of the tools this individual used in the Video making this spiral in illustrator onto Inkscape. He also didn't use a ShapeBuilder for this and this is what I wanna do with this cooling looking spiral onto Inkscape. The Video of this is down below. Thank you to anybody for reading this.

    👍👍👍

    Something like that ?

    • Use of  60 ° guides, snapping to guides, path intersection and rotation centers (the trickiest part)
    • Circles will be drawn using stroke to path (think about stroke thicknesses).
    • Then shapebuilder tool, finally use of gradients.

Thanks Alot for this!! I highly appreciate it, but there is an issue. The version of Inkscape I'm using does not have ShapeBuilder and I was wondering if this Trinity spiral could be done without Shapebuilder

Duh ! Without shapebuilder tool, it will be a roayl pain in the ass to do, imho.

In essence, shapebuilders only does boolean ops, but there is a ton to do, there.

I suppose you can't either use path > fracture ?

Edit : it's doable, but far less user friendly : are you sure you can't use shapebuilder ?

@David248 I don't mind doing it without ShapeBuilder. I can kill alot of time by going the long route

@David248 andThe other reason too is that I wanna REALLY test my skills by doing this the exact same way the person did this on Illustrator, but on Inkscape, without ShapeBuilder cause the person in this video didn't use ShapeBuilder to create this

To be honest, I didn't closely watch the video you mention (30 min.). The way I'll show you isn't the one of the video.

If you want to stick to the one described in the video, just follow its steps.

It can be made similarly in Inkscape with :

    • ellipse tool
    • snapping
    • gradient tool
    • fill & stroke dialog
    • dropper tool
    • path operations (booleans)
    • z-order buttons in the select tool
    • bezier pen
    • node tool
    • guides
    • path operations

All can be found in the manual http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/

(but the shape builder tool is faster and more precise.)

The Inkscape objects dialog does not have thumbnails in the list for each shape, but that is the only significant difference I see.

If you want to follow the tutorial exactly, you'll need to forget to nip out the stroke on the green squiggle. ;-)

I understand what you saying. I know with ShapeBuilder it is faster, the only thing is my version of Inkscape was the one before the ShapeBuilder tool was added to the newer versions. Speaking of Shapebuilder, can I do the Trinity Spiral with an alternative way for ShapeBuilder like in this video here?

Cause if possible, then this works for me, if possible

Yes, you can manually modify the circles with node tool to make them match the design. You need a good knowledge of node tool.

You can also fake a shapebuilder tool, by using path division to cut every circles and then union the bits you need. You'll need some method to avoid creating a big mess.

These two solution won't fit to an inexperimented user, IMHO.

I paused the tutorial, because I was using shapebuilder tool, and it wasn't following the video.

I'm definitely going to try this Tonight. Thanks Alot for all of the methods you've provided for me.
