I am new to inkscape and mostly using the bitmap trace feature to turn bitmap images into svg.
I have one image that is a yellow teardrop with an oily swirly pattern in the yellows. I find that I have to create a LOT of color scans/objects to keep the swirly pattern, like 75+,
but not all of those 75+ scan/objects add to the image, but if I go lower it loses the swirly in the bitmap trace, so the 75+ it is and they are not all the same size so I can't just move them around and then use the align/center tools to put them back and since I need to delete some I can't just use undo either.
So what I need to do is use the bitmap trace with all 75-100 scans, then un-group, and then I need to send each part to a different layer without moving from the "stacked" image alignment, how do I do this reasonably?
The second question I've run into is merging layers back together? There doesn't seem to be easy layer manipulation with Inscape, as I can't just control or shift click multiple layers and merge?
individual objects to individual layers is bad layering organization, just try to make layers but in an organized way and if you need to do this then you have to start from scratch again and make individual layers by objects or there is another workaround for it, if you can find it
@TylerDurden They need to be on different layers because i need to see each one individually to be able to evaluated weather or not to keep it or delete it, like I said not all 75+ objects add to the swirly part of the image I'm trying to keep and I need to try and keep the file size down.
@FerbZides And it's not about organization, it's about being able to see and evaluate each object created by the bitmap trace ALONE to decided if it should be kept or deleted to reduce the file size.
and can we please stay on topic of how to split 100 different objects that are stacked one on top of each other to different layers? and how to merge multiple layers back down to one without half an hour of clicking?
@TylerDurden I knew I had to be missing something! This is what I expected from the layers panel. Maybe i'm spoiled by adobe but I was banging my head against a wall thinking there had to be some way to see each object individually because it made no sense in a workflow that I couldn't do this!
If an inkscape dev is reading this... wouldn't it make more sense to just put this in the "layers" panel? cause really the layer panel does imply the layers and their contents

Thanks in advance for any help.
Why do they need to be on individual layers? Maybe there is a way to avoid that.

I'd use Menu: Object>Objects. The dialog allows viewing and hiding individual objects in the same way as layers.
