Hi! As I rotate a circle I made, the circle slowly warps into an oval shape. How do I rotate the circle and keep its shape constant? I've tried rotating both by clicking on the circle twice to get the little rotations arrows and also using "option + [". Both methods warp the circle into an oval.
In the recording you are starting with an elipse. You have to hold ctrl while drawing to constrain it into a circle. Look in status bar. Also in W and H boxes both should be same.
Sorry, I forgot to mention that I wanted to wrap text around the circle, and the only way to move the text to the correct spot is to rotate the circle. When I was doing it incorrectly, the ellipse would change shape and the text's "arch" would change. I wanted the text to remain in a perfect arch of a circle.

Not reproduce here... can you share a screen recording, or before and after example Inkscape SVG files?
Hello !
But you are right, it becomes an oval ... amazing ! (Sorry, i do not see how to join a file π€¨)
rotating a circle... in order to get what thing ? what is the goal ?!
By the way, as you see, it is more useful to change the shape into oval than getting a simple rotation...

Attached is a screen recording of it turning into an oval when I rotate it

Ohhh I see now! I held down ctrlΒ and it worked! Thank you so much!!
Please explore the tutorials in Inkscape's Help menu, for fast, easy guidance on shape tools and other fundamentals.
I will do that moving forward, thank you!
@Meepdur
Just had to ask along with @Domino22 what rotating the circle might be used for.
Only thing I can think of is in this post
