Beginners' Questions problem with the fill color

Hi, I am quite new to Inkscape and seem to have run into a problem with the fill color of a particular object. When I try to add a fill color, it does not show up. However, when I set Stroke paint, the object becomes visible. Ideally, I would like to set no stroke and fill the object instead. I would appreciate if anyone could let me know where I am going wrong.

P.S. I don't know if this piece of info is important, but still... The object selected is a path I created using the Bezier pen.

Very mysterious. Everything seems correct. Your shape opacity is set to 100%, fill is a solid colour (and different from the background), fill opacity is also set to 100%, and the other object displays as expected.

There are combinations of attributes that can render objects invisible so try this. Select the object and open the XML Editor dialog [Edit > XML Editor...]. In the lower pane, delete the <style> attribute by clicking the "bin" icon beside it. This removes all formatting and you should see a black shape (i.e. Fill:Unset) which you can now colour as you please.

If this doesn't work, upload the svg file so we can take a closer look at it.

I am brand new to this awesome program!  I'm following this post and have followed all the above including uninstalling/reinstalling Inkspace.  Still NO fill visibility (no problem w/ stroke).  ALL indicators on screen indicate that there SHOULD be a bill.  I'm baffled!

Not really - the Fill color indicator tells you have transparency enabled: Open Fill and Stroke panel for adjustments.

YES YES YES!  A slip of a keystroke!  All normal!  Thank you!
