Hi, I had a problem while I was trying to do this gradient.
I choose the text and I put them one on top of the other, but this happened, and I just wanted to do the gradient like one, not like 3 separate letters.
Info: They are grouped, I don't know if that does something
Click on the leftmost gradient node, apply 100% opacity (bottom right of the window), then give it a grey color.
If you don't mind having 3 separate letters, follow @sBassNvydr advice, I suggest to unify paths (Ctrl +) instead of combining them (ctrl K). Still keep in mind the lighter part is not grey, it's black with a high transparency.

Thanks for the attention!!!
Try ungroup
>object to path
>select all and combine
then try gradient?

Thanks for the help, it worked!!!
There's no need to leave the Text-object - just make clear you don't have any transparency in your gradient:
