    Hi there,

    I got a .svg file, a map

    https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/ad/Landkreise_Baden-Wuerttemberg.svg

and I would like to convert it to .dxfย

If I simply open it in Inkscape and save as .dxf it doesn't work. It only saves part of it:

How can I convert from .svg to .dxf?

    thanks!

Does it probably help when selecting all and do a Path->Object to Path before saving as dxf?

    It worked!

    Object to Path, right?

There is just one line to separate each region, if I wanted to separate them, is there any shortcut to "explode" the regions?

    thanks

Iยดm not sure what you mean by "Explode the regions". Every region one island perhaps?

Yes, like if every region was an island.

All of them independent, so I can laser cut them one by one

PS: the explosion expression comes from CAD, exploded view

Ok - then select everything (except text of course) and go Path->Combine - this will assign one single style to every region - then Path->Stroke to Path - if you need separate islands go Path->Break Apart:

all good until the last step,

the map becomes a full solid

although one can see some inner selections

No prob - go Stroke and Fill panel;ย delete fill and add stroke color.

    Perfect!
I'll learn about the options of the 3 steps you mentioned. I'm totally lost

I'm checking the map. Following the coast I see many little details which I would like to simplify. There are too many lines that make no sense. I guess there are ports, piers... on the coast that increase the complexity. Also many double lines.ย Not good for laser cutting.

Is there any tool in Inkscape to simplify this?
