I have created a complex object made up of series lines and curves (see file) which are not completely connected at the node level. Is there a way to create an outline which I could then use as a cutting path?
What I usually do is to draw a rectangle (stroke/no fill) around the figure. Take the "Paint Bucket tool" (set Close gaps to "large") and click in-betweenย rectangle and figure - take the node tool and select one node from the outer shape - then select all - then hit backspace to delete - select "outline" and go Path->Outset or Path->Dynamic Offset to adjust offset for example.
