Latest Inkscape version on Windows 7. I've performed a Set Clip operation & it worked as expected except it doesn't resize the bounding box.
I've done some research & supposedly this long standing problem was meant to be fixed. I also tried changing to 'Visual bounding box' under preferences was meant to fix it, but just shrinks its size but not completely.

Did you find a bug report at GitLab?
None that said "It's fixed, here's a solution"
Did you have a specific thread in mind?
Typically, there is a GitLab report on the Inkscape bug tracker that gives specific info and possible workarounds.
