I have 25 text objects in a group on their side, ie, rotated 90º, and aligned to the top edge of the group. Is there an easy to align them down to the bottom edge of that group?
I can do it the hard way, ie, select group in XML Editor, Object Ungroup, SHIFT + Node select the end text object that is already aligned down, select Arrow button, then in Align & Distribute box I select Last selected, and then Align Bottom Edges, then SHIFT + Node select the end text again while the other 24 text object are already selected, select Arrow button, and group. Basically I'm aligning the 24 text objects to an object that is already aligned, but with them ungrouped.
I can't seem to do anything with the text within a group, and any alignment just moves the whole group.
Try aligning them before grouping (groups behave as a group). Use one as a reference (parent) and align them as needed (one, a few, or all). It should work without selecting nodes or having to see them (they aren't directly relevant to the operation).

That's exactly how I did it, I was just wondering if there was a simple way to do it in the group.
Maybe this:
