My desktop MacOS has updated to ver 11.1 "Big Sur", and now inskcape 1.0.2 does not work in this new MacOS version.

Is the dev team aware of this, and is their a plan to get it working soon?

Please be more specific... "does not work" could be any number of unexpected behaviors.

Update...  When I when to test further so I could reply to @TylerDurden , I recalled that before installing 1.0.2, I had attempted to launched the app (ver 0.9 is what I had at that time) and I got a message from MacOS saying something like "this app needs to be updated by the software author" or something like that.  So, I downloaded and installed 1.0.2, and then when I tried to launch that, it did nothing... When I clicked the icon, it bounced a little bit, but the app never started and the app process never even appeared in Activity Monitor. So that's when I posted here that 1.0.2 "does not work" on MacOS 11.1 Big Sur.

So when you asked me for more details I tried it again so I could be specific about exactly what did or didn't happen, and I got same results (i.e. it did not launch the app). Then I thought "maybe it's hung up from previous time I tried to launch 0.9, maybe a reboot would help..."  So, guess what??  I rebooted and then when I clicked the beautiful Inkscape icon, now MacOS pops up a security message like "Inkscape is an app that was downloaded from the internet are you sure you want to launch it?", and I clicked "yes", and then the wonderful app loaded up and now runs just fine.

So, a reboot was required, which could be helpful if the install would have told me that, but, at the same time, I'm no rookie with software or computers, so I guess I should have figured out the reboot-might-solve-this cure the first time I had the issue.

Good luck to others in case they hit this issue.

    Cheers!

I am having a similar problem, I downloaded xquartz. But the install icon has a white circle / cross out over it, saying that is the creator needs to update the app?

    Inscape don´t need Xquartz anymore.

Running macOS 11.6.  Just installed Inkscape 1.1.  Inkscape would become unresponsive after about 15-30 seconds.  Matt Slay's reboot suggestion seems to have fixed the problem.  Thanks, Matt.

Mine's too. Inkscape kept crashing when opening a file, even that file was created a day ago by the same Inkscape. I have mac os Big Sur with InkscapeSur 1.1.1.

    Very frustrating.
