I have a non-Admin account in Windows 10. As per guides on the internet, I installed Ghostscript x64 on Windows 10. Added Path, for both my account and system. Even after that, unable to open .eps files. I shutdown and restarted, but no luck. I am using 1.3.2

Reproduced here in Win 10,  1.3.2.

Not reproduced here in Linux Mint 21, 1.3.2

Resolved here by re-installing latest GS.

Ensure both are in the path variable list:

    • C:\Program Files\gs\gs10.02.1\bin
    • C:\Program Files\gs\gs10.02.1\lib

To ensure this is not file-related, here is a working eps file.

Please share a non-working eps file.

Is there any chance you used two monitors in the past? Maybe the import dialog is opening offscreen.

Hi, I am currently using a dual monitor setup. I can see the error message in the same window and monitor in which Inkscape runs. Not sure why the reinstall is not working for me. Does it have something to do with it being a non administrator account?

I presume you have followed the guidance in the FAQ:

"In Windows 10, for some reason, Inkscape sometimes doesn't like the paths at the bottom of the list. Near the "New" button are "Move Up" and "Move Down" buttons. So if you still can't open EPS files after installing Ghostscript, you can try moving the 2 paths up in the list. Try moving them up halfway or more.

Note that updating to a new version of Ghostscript will install to a new \gs directory, but will not erase the old version subdirectory or update the Environment Variables. You'll need to delete the old directories and adjust the Environment Variable paths if you want to make use of the newly installed version (with the new directory and paths). Also note that if you have a 64-bit system, and you install the 32-bit version of Ghostscript, the paths will be C:/Program Files (x86)/...etc., instead of C:/Program Files/...etc."

Thanks, I did tried adding them new today. Please see attachments.

Also, there is no move up / down option in my case.

Ah... let's try putting the entries as values in the variable: Path.

Then remove the recently created variables called bin and lib.
