I hope this is the right place to post this. I just got a drawing tablet and am completely 100% new to digital drawing and have been trying to figure out where to start. On Reddit Inkscape seems to be the most popular free software but I am having a TON of trouble figuring out the application or finding any actual beginner tutorial videos! It's the most popular software so I know there's info or a way to learn out there but I can't find it. First of all my entire screen/canvas is super tiny and I can't figure out how to change it to the default for a blank drawing. And every pencil stroke I made ends up as a selection instead of jut a drawn line. Every tutorial I can find has completely different settings and they just start drawing or using the toolsΒ 192.168.1.254Β but on my newly installed app everything is super different and nothing works like in any of the videos I've seen. I see many people linking to Nick Saporito but I can't find any beginner tu10.0.0.0.1v torials on his channel to even learn how to use Inkscape or get it set up, it's like every video starts on step 10. I need a beginner's tutorial or somewhere to start! Can anyone help me?
I'd also suggest putting your tablet to one side and using a mouse for the initial tutorials. Tablets bring their own set of requirements and problems which you don't want to deal with while learning the basics of the program.
Also make sure you're clear on the difference between vector and bitmap images and editors. Inkscape is a vector editor and may not be the right tool for the job, depending on what you want to do. Personally I use a tablet with bitmap editors, but have never got on well with it in a vector setting.

I'd start with the tutorials in the help menu. Not video, but ya gotta start somewhere.
