I'm new to Inkscape. Β I'm trying to create a 64x64 favicon.ico file for a web application. Β I have already created (programmatically) two SVG files that will be used as clip art for my icon.
Since the output of my efforts is only 64 pixels wide and high, I'd like to zoom in a lot while I'm editing. Β I have poor eyesight. Β When I'm zoomed in, the slightest amount of sweeping on my laptop's touchpad causes the image to scroll way too far.
How can I limit the size of the entire drawing area, possibly referred to as the "background" in Inkscape documentation, so that it is a more appropriate size for my work and my images aren't lost in it.
I'm not asking about the "page size" that can be controlled from the document properties dialog. Β I'm talking about limiting the size of the entire area that can be scrolled to while drawing.
You can't restrict the canvas in the way you want - the page size is the only tool you have. But you can perhaps more easily navigate your drawing if you learn some of the shortcuts and icons for zooming. The toolbar has an icon for zooming so that the page fills the screen, and another to make your whole drawing fill the screen (whether that's bigger or smaller than the page itself). These can be useful to "reset" the zoom and pan position quickly to a known state, which might help if the image scrolls too far.
