If your Ubuntu version or derivative has not packaged Inkscape 1.2.2 for you yet, you can install the current version from our ppa for Ubuntu 22.04, 20.04 and 22.10:
Command Line (any Ubuntu-based distribution):
… when you don't have Inkscape installed yet:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:inkscape.dev/stable sudo apt update sudo apt install inkscape
… when you want to update your Inkscape installation from your distro's (deb-packaged) one to the ppa one:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:inkscape.dev/stable sudo apt dist-upgrade
In case of problems, make sure to remove your system's lib2geom package before retrying to install Inkscape from the ppa.
Desktop Instructions (Ubuntu only):
- Start the application "Software and updates"
- Select the tab "Other Software"
- Click the button "Add..."
- Enter the following text
ppa:inkscape.dev/stable
- Click the button "Add Source"
- Click on the button "Close"
- When the pop up warns "The information about available software is out-of-date" click the button "Reload"
- The latest stable version of Inkscape is now avaialble to be installed from the software center.
