How do I union an image together with text? For example, I have the number 5 and I want to put a small dot on the end so that it looks similar to the number five on a dollar bill. Once unioned I plan to change the unioned image to the same color. The problem is that I am not able to union the text number with the image/circle. I tried first making the text (5) a path and then unioning the text and circle together however they are not being unioned together. Does anyone have any idea I am doing wrong?

Can you check what the Status Bar is telling about these 2 objects? Text-objects and paths can be united - Groups and paths not, for instance.
