Ok, I'm looking to create a wormhole/vortext effect using Inkscape. My reference would be images from the Disney movie The Black Hole. What specific steps would you suggest?
I decided to follow a tutorial and build a funnel vortex in Blender and rendered a procedural swirl. Once finished I imported it into Inkscape and traced the bitmap using different values and layered the paths to simulate a 3d vortex in space.

Here's my quick attempt. Lots of spirals, transformed and filtered.
