Hi. I have a problem. I have an xlm file with my Inkscape preferences. I reset the preferences to check for a bug and now I can't use mine. Even though I delete the preferencesxlm file and leave mine, every time I open Inkscape another preferencesxlm is created. Is there any way to fix that? Thanks.

I meant on the computer's file manager, so dates and filenames are visible.

You are definitely putting the file in the /home/marcos/.config/inkscape/ ?

And the filename is preferences.xml? (there is a typo in the previous message.)

Ah, sorry. I'm from the analog era, I don't understand much about computers :) This is the folder. Somewhere I had seen to create my own file, but every time I open Inkscape it creates a new preferences.xml

    🙌

I teach Inkscape classes at a local makerspace.  To setup multiple student machines, I use a custom preference file (Class-Preferences.xml) , as follows...

    With Inkscape not running:

    • Copy my custom Class-Preferences.xml file, kept in the Inkscape user config directory
    • Paste back into the Inkscape user config directory to create Class-Preferences-Copy.xml
    • Delete preferences.xml (latest created by Inkscape)
    • Rename Class-Preferences-Copy.xml to preferences.xml.

    Launch Inkscape.
