How do I draw a wiggle line of uniform wiggles, ideally along a path?

I think the first step would be to draw one wiggle (I'd duplicate it to verify that it fits snugly and delete it when it's done). Now look for the "pattern along path" feature.

I was hoping for a simple tool setting to draw something different that a normal line, or a filter to apply afterwards, but apparently this is more difficult than I hoped for.
