Sorry, I see now that this question is allready asked. I didn'd see it because I searched for pane instead for panel
Since I downloaded version Inkscape 1.1 the pane on the right side where tools like layers are shown is much wider than it used to be. In many cases the tool doesn't use all that room, and sometimes I want more room for the canvas Area. But if I try to make it smaller it closes completely. Is there a way to make it smaller?
Not sure how to explain but it uses the size needed of the largest. Try closing different items you have in your panel. For instance if I have bitmap trace there the panels are wider. Remove it and they can be resized smaller. Can't find discussion on this.
I remember a similar thread here... but it refers to Inkscape 1.2. In previous versions there might be a way to do it, but it's probably more complex...
