I want to create a sketch that uses the LaTeX fonts for the labels. So I downloaded the Computer Modern Fonts here (https://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/computer-modern), installed them on my Windows 11 Pro machine. The character I specifically need is a Greek phi in CMU Serif italic. The Windows font settings show that the right symbol is installed (see attached screenshot).
Now when I open Inkscape (v1.4), select the Text tool, change the font to CMU Serif and the style to medium italic, copy the character (U+03D5) from the Character map, and paste it into the Inkscape textfield, I get an italic Latin Capital Letter I with Diaeresis. If I change the style to medium, I get a Greek phi. Also in style "bold" I get a (bold) phi. In bold italic I get an italic Greek Small Letter Archaic Koppa (see attached screenshot). I have also attached the svg file.
WTF?! Any suggestions? Can anybody reproduce this behaviour?

Thanks for your help!
Lasse
I see that the preview of the svg file shows the correct symbols. Can anybody explain this behaviour?
Cheers
