HI everyone, IÂ am having this issue with text tool. When I set my text font to be sans-serif, I can't change the font weight even though 'italic', 'bold' and other option are still visible. On the contrary, fonts like consolas still work as expected. I haven't test for other fonts but I want to use sans-serif in my figure. How can I solve this issue. Thank you in advance
I tried the reset preference button, and tried reset preference then restart the computer, both doesn't work. I don't know if this information help, but the preview pane from Text and Font tab still work, it is just the actual text object and the exported png do not have their font weight changed.
not reproduced in 1.2.2 Linux Mint, nor 1.2.2 Windows 10   Is the font installed?  Describe your OS (your computer's Operating System: Mac/Windows/Linux/etc. & version). Describe if Inkscape was newly installed, or upgraded from an earlier version. Describe the version of Inkscape and the installer you used (the file you downloaded from the website: .msi/.exe/.zip/other ).Â
I use 1.2.1 Windows 10. After some research, I find out that 'sans-serif' is an alias used for a fall-back font rather than an actual font name. In (my) Windows 10, sans-serif is 'Dejavu Sans', which is not installed with a bold nor an italic typeface by default, so maybe that's why my version of Inkscape does not have any typefaces other than normal for sans-serif.
Still, I don't understand why Inkscape would display preview for alternative sans-serif typefaces, and even weirder, sans-serif bold typeface will work if i export a pdf file (not work with png, and other typefaces like italic and italic bold will not work with pdf)
Apart from 1.3 (not released yet), I can't reproduce the issue in 1.2.1 and 1.2.2 on Win 11. Could you use the XML editor in Inkscape or a text editor maybe. What about other SVG files like the one attached. Does it work?
Unfortunately, it doesn't. However, i think i get why my 'sans-serif' doesn't work now (see my comment above). I've decided to use 'Arial' instead, thank you for your help

Before proceeding further, I'd try resetting the preferences:Â https://inkscape.org/forums/questions/getting-back-to-square-one-and-starting-over-its-easy/

 Is the font installed?
Â
Select font weight in the text field over the drop-down list, type bold and hit enter.

I tried it but the problem still persists, thank you for the suggestion though
