Hi there everybody, I ran into an issue while using path actions while trying to make a cancel icon. Both items disappear on applying the action for some reason. I am confused if its a bug or I just don't understand how these things work. Here is a little video demonstration:
Expected Behavior: It should make a new "x" looking item when I union both paths but it removes both instead.
If you don´t want a shape and keep the stroke width editable you can go Path->Combine the 2 strokes selected. Boolean->Union is for shapes not strokes:

OS: Windows 10 64bit
Inkscape Version: 1.4
Special Hardware: multiple monitors
My guess is that the paths are stroked. I'd try Path>Stroke to Path on both before running the union operation.
wow, you are on point. I applied "Stroke to Path" on both and it worked like a charm. Thanks a lot 🌹 😊

@Polygon that's amazing and very helpful. Also, I didn't know we can change stroke width directly this way. Thanks a lot for sharing <3
