I'm constructing a symbol in which I want to have some text inside. I want to be able to rotate the symbol to any angle. Is there a way to have the text not to rotate as I rotate the object? The text would be located at the center of rotation of the object.

No. Either don't group it, then it won't rotate along with the rest. Or make a nested group and only rotate part of that.
