Ah, the many uses of the word 'path'. My guess is that the OP is talking about the path to the file on disk, but perhaps TD has the right interpretation.

If it is the path on disk that's needed then one method is to find the file in the File > Open Recent menu and hover the mouse over it. The tooltip shows the full path to the file.

@Xav - your interpretaion of path is what I need

your solution works only if a file is open via File -.> Open

It doesn't work if a file is open by double click on file name in file explorer

So why there is no such info on the top of window  - where the name of the file is

Is it possible to suggest this to Inkscape developers?

Looks like this might have got broken in version 1.0. In version 0.92 the document appears in the Open Recent menu regardless of how I open it. A nasty workaround is to select File > Save A Copy... which (for me, at least) opens a file selector at the directory the file came from, and I can see the path in there.

You can find information about reporting bugs here: https://inkscape.org/contribute/report-bugs/

If you do report this, please make sure to mention that the behaviour of the Open Recent menu appears to be a regression from 0.92. Regressions are often easier for developers to track down as they can probably identify the exact change that introduced the problem.
