I have used Xara for years and have started to move over to Inkscape. Xara seems to lost something for me almost clunky on viewing on screen. Anyway that dont matter.
I have hundreds of XAR file and would like to load them in InkScape as and when.
I guess save in XARA as SVG and load in IS is the only option :-(.
The .ai does not have embedded pdf so that's a bust. The SVG is doing odd with the rectangle objects' rounding, but if Xara can convert all shapes to paths before export, that might be an viable option.
Hi All,

Any thoughts or suck it it up.
MR
Looks like a suck up. However, some trials.
I have saved a file in Xara as an AI file, try to load in IS ... no avail.
Copy the group in Xara and it happly pastes into IS (albeit a basic group of objects).
There must be a way to do this :-)
My basic XAR attached and a AI that Xara tried to create.
and Inkscapes message box.
I'd try renaming the .ai to .pdf and see if it will open in Inkscape.
Just tried your suggestion.... :-(((( Sadly IS still dont want to play.
Thanks for the new thought approach.
Please share a Xara svg and Xara .ai file(s).
Made me think a bit more with your suggestion.
Back to XARA and used Export PDF option in the menu and then loaded that PDF in IS and its Imports so to speak.
:-)
My try one of my more complex Xara drawinfs next.

Xara AI and SVG exports.

Your attached basic XAR file did open in the portable version of sK1 2.0.
