Some 3 weeks ago I did a bad file overwrite (my fault of course) - and being able to read back third auto backups back in same did totally save my day.
I don't think I had anything like that. If Inkscape froze, it simply saved 1 file to the C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\inkscape folder and that’s it. I don’t remember that autosave was “unsuccessful”🤔
Hi, depends on which problem autosave must resolve : fault tolerance or recover on irreversible actions.
Example : - You work on a design you know makes Inkscape unstable > interval to 1-3 minutes, with 4-5 versions - You make something long / difficult and want to retrieve early versions, as a cancel history, in order to explore other directions > interval to 10-15 minutes, with 50-100 versions.
Why is autosave listed at 50? after all, one file is enough.
Ever had a failed backup?
I set mine to ten.
