I have been using Inkscape 0.92 for a while and I just upgraded to Inkscape 1.0. I like the new interface and new features, however, when I select Path Effects, and press '+', i get a blank selection box. I don't see any effects listed. Just a blank box. I tried to manually fill in the name of an effect but I get nothing. There were no issues during the installation. Am I doing something wrong? Should I reinstall 1.0? I was able to use this feature all the time in 0.92.

How the hell did this happen? I don't like software being installed without my approval.
