Beyond the Basics Hierarchical layer visibility

    Hello, everyone,

for an ongoing project it would be incredibly helpful for me to have a way to control the visibility of objects, even if they are structured in groups.

    What I mean:
    Object 1 on layer 1
    Object 2 on layer 2
Both objects grouped and this group on layer 3

If I only deactivate layer 1, object 1 disappears (2 remains visible)
If I only deactivate layer 2, object 2 disappears (1 remains visible)
If I only deactivate layer 3, both objects disappear because the group is on layer 3.

Is this or a similar function possible with Inkscape (possibly using plugins)?

I hope I have expressed myself clearly.

    Best regards
    Christian

You can use the Objects dialog, in Menu: Object>Objects.  If you have a  complex design, it can slow down the operation of Inkscape.

Okay - thank you very much! That's exactly what I was searching for!😀
I will see if performance is a problem - in my usecase for this I don't have that much objects to deal with.
