I am using Inksacape 1.4 to create a Bitmap-Font therefore I have a very long text containing all the characters once.
For a emboss effect there is a second text with only the outline active that has a Blur effect (1,5%).
1. In the Editor this little Blur completely smears the object beyond recognition.
2. However when I export the object as PNG everything looks as Intended.
3. When I reduce the long text to a single character the Blur also works in the Editor.
I've already did some research and figured out that the Blur is meant to be relative to the object size. But why is it so completely different in the Export and Editor? I've also went to the preferences and set my render quality to maximum - no effect.
For me this makes the whole Blurring very difficult if it is not What You See Is What You Get in the Editor.
I created the Font in 2019 with the Inkscape version of the time and I do not remember that I had this issue. Otherwise, it would have been quite impossible for me to create it in the first place. But now I want to do some changes and everything is a blurry mess.
Sorry, I can't reproduce the problem. Your image looks good on my system (MacOS + Inkscape 1.4). Long text and short text show the same degree of blurring.
After some experiments I confirmed the following anomalies. Blur (%) applied to a large shape produces more distortion than it does to a small shape. Scaling a blurred shape on the canvas changes the value of [Blur (%): XX] in the Fill and Stroke dialog. You get different values if you scale with the Node tool or the Select tool. Scaling with the Node tool preserves the visual appearance despite changing the Blur (%) Shape transforms (with the Select tool) are applied after blurring.
In the image below, if you open [Filters > Filter Editor...] you'll see that all three shapes have the same value for Gaussian Blur Size.
Instead of setting a numerical value, try this: Copy a shape that's correctly blurred. Select the target shape. [shift+ctrl+v] to paste the shape style.
Hello community,

Any Ideas what I might be doing wrong?

I can't confirm even with [shift+ctrl+v] the blures object gets messed up.
