I'm fairly new to creating Inkscape extensions and Inkscape itself, so I'm reaching out for some help with bringing my idea to life :).
I'm aiming to develop a tool that functions similarly to the brush tool in pixel art software like Aseprite. Essentially, the tool would allow users to drag over the grid and automatically fill cells with shapes.
To give another point of reference, I'm looking to create something like to the stamp-making of the Prixel Press.
I've been experimenting on my own, but I'm not very familiar with Python, and it seems ChatGPT's knowledge is outdated...
Any help or guidance you can offer would be greatly appreciated!
Hello everyone,

Thank you!
Have you checked out the „Spray tool“ already? Just saying. Perhaps you can sign in here for more info: https://chat.inkscape.org/channel/inkscape_extensions
Hey Polygon,
Thanks for your response. The spray tool is close to what I want, but the shapes do no "lock" to the grid.
I added a picture to better explain what I want.
And do you mean I should ask my question again at the location of the link?
I just wanted to suggest dropping by the chat for questions, tips and tricks perhaps. („Pray tool“ - funny typo or title?) 😅
It is a typo XD.
I'll go ask my question in the chat.
Perhaps you should try [Path > Path Effects...] [Tiling].
Or maybe [Edit > Clone > Create Tiled Clones...].
Or use [Objects > Align and Distribute...] to rearrange the shapes generated by the spray tool.
