Just need to verify if this is a bug. If so - will report bug.
When using Rotate Copies Path Effect, node snapping doesn't seem to work. The only way I can get the correct effect is to use a grid and align the bottom node of the object to a grid intersection. Then I can adjust the path effect to line up correctly.
None of the control nodes will snap to anything except grids. I always use grids in my designs so I never noticed it before. Have not checked other versions.
I have tried Rotate Copies, Lattice, and Perspective LPE.
Edit - will snap to page borders, page margins and guides. Checked in v1.3.2 - same snapping behavior.
It's snapping, but maybe I'm unclear on which objects you want to snap.
I created the rotated pattern by calculating the origin point: y origin is parent object's height, x origin is the distance from the object's BB lower corner to the bottom node.
You shouldn't have to calculate anything when using the Rotate Copies LPE . Using the node editor, simply move the LPE control node for center of rotation of the LPE and snap it to the bottom cusp node of the object.
Now - here is more info. If I draw another closed path and place it near the object, the LPE control nodes will snap to that paths cusp nodes. But the control nodes will not snap to the cusp nodes of the original object.
Yeah - pet peeve of mine concerning LPE Control point handles. You can't tell the difference between path nodes of the object and the control points of the LPE. I changed the node-handle.css so I don't get confused.
Thanks for confirming. LPE control points will snap to anything enabled to snap except to anything on the original object. Checked this all the way back to 1.2.
Still not sure if this is a bug or simply an unimplemented feature.

Thanks
EDIT - v1.4.2 Windud 11
Haven't checked previous versions
Ok - more info

Just use the LPE control nodes - no calculation is needed.
I found a way to do it so it will snap to the bottom cusp node. Duplicate the object. lol
I think I will report this as a bug
Ok, I see what you're getting at... I didn't even see the control nodes. My interface has them as diamonds like the path nodes.
Reproduced here in Win10, 1.4.2. They will snap to guides and other nodes... just not their own.
