Beyond the Basics How to create "cloudy" Perlin Noise or similar effects?

    Hey folks,

So Inkscape used to have the functionality I'm describing in the ABCs section. You can see examples on this website of them: Noise Fill and Noise Transparency.

Fast forward to today, it seems the ABC filters have been restructured or replaced with more powerful options, which sounds great in theory. Apparently "Noise Fill", which lives under Filters>Overlays, is the better replacement for the old ABC filters called Noise Fill and Noise Transparency.

Unfortunately, I've tried using Noise Fill and playing around with the options I can see (2 frequencies, complexity, variation, dilation, erosion, and 2 modes - fractal and turbulence) and all I can get is a very grainy, pixelly "raw" noise. I'm not looking for that at all. I'm looking for the fluffy, cloudy sort of noise you get working with Perlin noise for example, the kind that those old filters produce in the examples linked above. I've tried finding documentation or tutorials but my google-fu is failing me.

How can I achieve that effect in modern Inkscape? Specifically, I'm running Inkscape 1.3.

    Thanks!
