The contest winner was Annares (http://anarres.deviantart.com/art/Inkscape-About-Screen-1-19683871), but the runner-up entry (http://andremarcel.deviantart.com/art/Inkscape-About-Screen-Contest-19286311) was used instead because Annares' SVG source could not be obtained in time. Annares' entry was then used as About Screen for Inkscape version 0.43.
