    Hi

Just started using Inkscape having troubles finding documentation about:

1 if is possible to work with different sizes of Layers, ex: having X Background layer and Y Content layer on different width and height

2 if each Layer can have their own list of objects because at moment all of them are together listed in one(inside "Objects") being a huge mess and hard to work fast with them for my projects because dont see a clear difference between a "Group" and "Layer" in the container of all objects.

Thanks in advance for any help

    1. Gimp and Photoshop raster layers have boundaries and can be moved around but Inkscape layers apply to the entire canvas so they're all the same size.  (This is a simplified one-line explanation.)  Instead of moving the layer, you move the objects inside the layer. [ctrl+a] selects all objects in the current layer.

    2. The Objects dialog [Object > Objects...] shows layers at the top level of a tree structure with sublayers, groups and objects below.  Groups and layers are indicated by the symbol in the Type column.

The svg specification doesn't understand layers so drawings created in another application have no layer information.  It's up to you to create the layer structure and move the imported objects where you want them.  Clicking the group symbol in the Objects dialog converts imported groups to Inkscape layers (and vice versa).
