Beginners' Questions [MacOS] UI text on Inkscape panels only show as boxes

    Have just downloaded Inscape 1.4 to my MacBook Pro running macOS Monterey. Inkscape downloads fine and opens okay but all that should be text in the program appears as just boxes. See attached image, can anyone tell me why this is happening?
