    Inkscape Version: 1.0.2

    OS: Windows 10 64 bit.

    Screenshot on Podcast Platform

Screenshot of color fill in inkscape

I'm very new to all this but I put together a simple file that's intended to be a podcast cover image.

When I export the file to PNG the image color is being darkened by the website background (see linked screenshot above).

It appears related to my transparency/background color or opacity?

I was initially having problems with a similar color change for the entire image (from light to dark blue) when I viewed it on my mobile device which I managed to resolve by changing the background color from transparent to #ffffffff

An explanation and and any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm sure it's something small but the only item I've found in the forums was the following which didn't really help me

    Thanks!

    Hi, welcome to the forum!

Take another look at the screenshot you posted showing the Fill & Stroke Panel. Look at the letters 'R, 'G', 'B', 'A' down the left hand side next to the colour sliders. The 'A' value is set to 46. That needs to be at 100. The 'a' stands for alpha, which relates to transparency. You need the alpha value to be at 100 for full opacity.

Drag that slider up to 100 and you should be good to go.

Hi z3z thanks for the help!

I was following tutorials that used the opacity to effect their image colors. So I'll just have to use the other values of RGB to get this effect is that right?

It seems like it will be harder to get the soft tone of it that way.

Is it correct to assume that any image with <100 alpha value can have this issue?

    Thanks again!

    Hi,

Yep, if you have transparency in your final image, it's always going to show some of what's underneath, and the lightness or darkness of that lower colour will affect the colours above.

You could make a white rectangle the size of your image and send it to the bottom. Then, when you export the PNG, this white rectangle (which should be fully opaque) will ensure you're not exporting a PNG with any transparency. This still allows you to mess about with alpha values while you're making your image, if that's what you want to do. The only other option is to always work with solid colours.

Awesome - thanks very much for the help I'll look into those and looks like this one is solved. Much appreciated. Excited to keep using inkscape.
