Which version of Inkscape is this or: Did you installed the latest?
How do I quote a comment?
To user Polygon: 1.1. Latest version. GhostScript 64Bit Latest as of today. 19th June 2021.
After the error above. I get another error: Failed to load the requested file.
Can you share the file to check. I´m on macOS but like to check though. Can CorelDraw export a new EPS file that Inkscape can read probably?
Coreldraw can export the file. Yes. I exported it in SVG format. I am using coreldraw trial so I cant use it forever though.
Here is google drive link for the file: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Qecpp4pXf2t0Huc6IyCMAVOSU21nQ1_q/view?usp=sharing
BTW The files were downloaded from here: https://www.lionsclubs.org/en/resources-for-members/resource-center/logos-and-emblems
EPS is almost dead on macOS for years - it will be converted to PDF on the fly when opened.
I don´t have a native option to open EPS files with my Inkscape version - just PDF.
I converted it and saved as Inkscape SVG file - hope this helps.
How did you convert it?
As I said: macOS converts every EPS into PDF - that loads just fine into Inkscape - then save as SVG - done.
But I am on windows. So.. Can't do that.
I´m not sure if Inkscape has a built-in EPS loader on Windows or Linux - I can ask in Chat.
From Team_devel: "...there is as soon as Inkscape can detect a ghostscript installation" ... that Inkscape can open EPS.
But I have Ghost Script installed. So what am I missing?
I also rebooted my pc in between. Still NADA
Here´s a link to a video on YT I received in Chat which might give you a hint: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tH6S-w5DAsY
That is the video I used to set the path.
I was on Inkscape support page where it shows how to open eps files. There is link to this video.
Sorry to hear that it didn´t work - as I said I´m on macOS and have no clue about Windows.
This is from the FAQ: https://inkscape.org/de/lernen/haufig-gestellte-fragen/#How_to_open_EPS_files_in_Windows
@xeltos, I will dl the EPS file and we can check with other systems.
I'm running .92 on Win 8.1 and 10, and 1.1 on Linux. Have Illustrator here too, if you need a quick conversion.
@xeltos, What version of windows and which Inkscape installer was used (.msi, .exe, .zip...or...)?
Opens fine on Win 8.1 Inkscape 9.2.2
Opens fine on Linux, Inkscape 1.0.2.
I used the msi installer.
Windows 10, 21h1 update. Both Inkscape and ghostscript are most recent stable releases.
Maybe the same as this unresolved issue: https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inbox/-/issues/3819#note_564320686
@TylerDurden It is unresolved though. It seems that Ill have to convert the eps to svg then.
A number of commenters on the YT video are also having issues w Win10... I'd follow the progress on the bug tracker and assist if possible.
@TylerDurden okay. Thanks. :)
