    Hiya,

can someone please hold my hand as we skip jauntily through the nightmare that is me trying to incrementally move letters and words. I've followed every video and script on the subject and still I can't get those numbers in those little boxes to move! Is it a bug or me?!

    Thanks in advance

No idea :) I think you need to describe in more detail what you want to do, what you have tried, what happened, what you expected and share an example file.

Just taking a guess here - are you trying to put text on a path (like a circle for example) or just move them left, right, up, down?  If putting text on a path, you need to ensure you haven't converted the text to a path first. You can use the space bar and the flip buttons to manipulate the text.

If just moving the characters within a word (text), get into the text tool first, then click in between 2 characters/letters, and hold down the ctrl key down while using the up, down, right or left arrows to move it.  (I'm on a laptop and that's what works for me).  If this doesn't help, please give us a little more info, even a screen shot, anything that gives us an idea of what you are trying to do.

    Hi,

I know it should be as easy as you say however everytime I click the left arrow the entire screen slides to the left to reveal the dashboard, if I click the right arrow it slides right and I have my screen saver in front of me, if I go up or down the spacer bar goes to the front of the wording.

    Thanks for any help.

The plan is to create a logo for my sewing patterns. After placing the wording insitu by selecting and manipulating with the horizontal arrows around the the bounding box I can get it where I want it however I'd like to minimise the spacing between the letters and words.

Another day spent watching videos and reading tutorials on the subject to no avail. I did realise however if I hold down Alt + arrow keys the space bar moves from one letter to the other without adjusting anything. Is there anything else I can share which might shed light on the problem

    Thanks

Persistence pays off as problem solved! Stumbled over this little gem so will leave here in case it does the same for someone else.

Yes, absolutely Mac users need to make some adjustments for using certain key shortcuts.  More info about Macs, for key shortcuts and beyond:

Thanks brynn - thats a very helpful link! For a noob like myself there's more questions than answers and with so much info online that's focused on solutions it's refreshing to come across somewhere that lists the problems.
