The only workaround I can come up with is to orient the text as desired in Inkscape and duplicate those objects (text and shape) for later edits. Hide the duplicates and on the original text only use Path>union to convert the text to paths. This will render in a browser, however, the text will not be indexed or searchable.
"The Text → Convert to Text command converts link-flowed text to a regular text object while preserving the appearance of the text. The text is still editable but will no longer reflow inside the shape or path frame. This is necessary for display of the drawing in another SVG renderer. "
but I cant seem to be able to convert.
im trying to mark the text and then convert that doesnt work.
I try to seæect the text object and then convert. this doeesnt work either.
It is as if it ignore, maybe Im converting in the wrong way?
hi
I read the manual, and from that, im using "flow into frame" to get this:
but when I save and view in browser, it looks like this;
I have tried (and tried) to convert into text, like the manual says. but I cant seem to do it right, or else it doesnt work
I have tried to save in all kind of ways. an output file works, but the file size is heavy, so it seems counterintuitive
please, anyone?
Older flowed-text was not browser compatible. It can be converted to standard text. Feel free to share an example svg file.
The recent versions have updated flow text functions: https://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Release_notes/1.0#Text_Tool
thanks for the fast reply...
I tried to share the svg file in my first post.
Inkscape 1.1.1 (c3084ef, 2021-09-22) is the used version. and I have 'Use SVG 2 auto-flowed text' enabled...
i cant seem to get it to react to my attempt to "convert to text", as the manual recommend
Flowed text seems to have a number of issues.

thx again. I'll try that.
in the manual it says;
