Hi,

This problem gets really into my nerves. I hope someone can help me as i suspect is very basic but i cannot find the origin.

When i type some characters, the text instead of moving from left to right goes actually to the left and overwrite what is existing. Sometimes it does not happen and very often it happens.

Anyone has an idea what it could be ?

1. Are you working in an imported pdf file?

2. Is the text direction correct? (check in the text tool's tool controls. You may need to expand the little triangle on the far right to see writing direction settings)

3. Check your text's justification - right-aligned? left-aligned? center-aligned?

Best share a file, if you cannot figure it out with these hints.

Hello Friends,

I am experiencing the same issue. I am not sure where the question mark sign is? Can someone help please. It shoes left to right in the tool box but goes backwards on the document.

You don't need the question mark button to fix this. Also, it has been removed for Inkscape 1.0.

I also had this issue. It turns out I had a negative text spacing. Once I reset that to ZERO, everything was fine.
