Hi all,

I'm new to this forum.
I'm looking for a solution to my problem, where text does not cut out of an object (using >path>difference). When I work with 2 objects (f.e. a square and a circle) it works fine, only with text it doesn't. I've tried to convert to path and all other ways, but it just doesn't work.
What could I be doing wrong here....

 

I'd check the status bar for info. It may be the converted text is a group that needs to be un-grouped and combined into a single path.

Unfortunately the text still doesnt wat to be cut out of the object

I´ve tried to ungroup an convert to path but it doest work.

Funny thing is that 1 letter works but a complete word not

In the new versions, it will be most helpful to ensure there is no stroke on the text before converting to a path.

Hello, the procedure explained in the video above works really well when I want to cut the text out of a basic shape created with inscape but I have a shape that results from different cuts already and I want to make this the shape I'd like to cut the text out of. It doesn't work for me. is there a preparation step I need to do on that shape ?

in the attached drawing I'd like to cut the yellow test out of the black shape; could someone help me ?

That shape needs to be a single path object. Maybe try Path>union on it before cutting with the text.
