Grettings, I am new to inscape. I am using version 1.2.2, downloaded a few days ago for Windows 10. I have been using Macs since the MacPlus. Yes, I am old. I can not find the snapping feature. And, I don't understand why I can draw a box and fill with color but can not stroke the box with a color. Sounds like a simple task. It shouldn't be that hard. Seems like the menu's in 1.2.2 are different than what is used in the tutorials.
Turn snapping on and off with the Snap icon (modelled on a horseshoe magnet), which should be in the top right corner of the screen. The adjacent drop-down arrow reveals icons to enable and disable the various snapping functions.
Rectangle strokes will normally use the last active stroke style unless you specify a default style under [Preferences > Shapes > Rectangle]. To change the stroke appearance, open the dialog [Object > Fill and Stroke...] and select the [Stroke Paint] tab and the [Stroke Style] tab.
