Hello, sorry for my poor english

I'd like to know if there is anyway to attribute a shortcut for the function "snap to item's rotation center" (maybe not exactly those words in english) because I'm using this function several times in a day.

if possible, could someone explain to me how to implement this ?

    I'm using Inkscape 0.92.4 (5da689c313, 2019-01-14), with a linux distribution (OS opensuse / Gnome 3.26.2)

    Welcome to the forum!

    I don't think so.

If you enable this option on the snap control bar, it stays that way until you disable it.ย  So you don't need to keep enabling it.

If you mean that you need it enabled, and then you have to disable it for a while, and then enable it again, that's just how snapping works.ย  Sometimes if I'm working in a complex SVG file, I change the snap options after almost every click, depending on what I need.

I have not heard of using key shortcuts for snap options.

I just had a quick look at Help menu > Key and Mouse Ref, and I didn't see any key shortcuts for snap control bar options.

You can enable and disable snapping alltogether with "%". On german keyboard layout it's Shift+5, don't know what it is on english layouts or whatever you are using. You could set up your desired snapping behaviour and turn it on and off when needed. Well, at least when you only need one kind of snapping. ๐Ÿ˜…

I should have specified that I work on multiple files one after the other, scanned on a copier and unfortunately not always perfectly oriented when I need perfect horizontals. That's the reason why I often need to use the "snap to item's rotation center" function of the snap control bar. Indeed the snap control bar stays enable even I you shutdown and reopen the software, but not the "snap to item's rotation center function".

I had looked before posting on the forum in the software options to see if I could assign a shortcut to this particular function but it is not present in the list. So I was wondering if there wouldn't be a way to manually create this shortcut in the user shortcuts xml file. But for that I would have to know the exact name in English of this button in the control bar and I don't know where to find it in Inkscape's file systems.

    Hello Alpha_Zen

I should have mentionned that I'm working on a french version of Inkscape. I know the % shortcut to enable/disable the snap control bar. I was writing my response to brynn so I didnt see yours before but my point stay the same. If I enable the "snap to item's rotation center" work, save my word, shutdown the software and reopen it, this very function isn't enabled anymore.

Oh, I see.ย  There might be a solution, depending on your workflow.

You could make a custom template which has that button enabled.ย  So every time you open a document with that template, the option would be enabled.ย  Here's a tutorial about making and using custom templates:ย  http://libregraphicsworld.org/blog/entry/using-templates-in-inkscape

Are you using some kind of automation, like with a script or commandline?ย  I don't know anything specific about that kind of workflow, so I don't know if a custom template could be used.ย  But I'm guessing there would be a way to do it.

    Hello Brynn

I had not actually thought about it but I'm already working with a personalized document template and a script to import my documents (jpg files) into Inkscape according to a chosen model. I've modfied my template file and I did the test. Indeed the "snap to item's rotation center" function seems to stay enabled. I'm still testing for a few days to verify that it works well, but I think I will soon be able to declare the topic solved.

A big thanks for this tip.
