I'm working on this tutorial by Sweater Cat Designs. Everything is going fine until I enter the shape builder tool. I've attached two images to show what is happening.
In image 1 the design of the logo looks fine.
In image 2 when I enter the shape builder tool it appears to lose the top of the vertical paths.

Thank you. I'm still learning. I adjusted the straight lines which gave me the shapes I needed when using the shape builder tool and I was able to complete the tutorial.

Please share an example Inkscape SVG file that has the issue.

Some of the vertical lines are not snapped to the grid, making the geometry not closed where it should be touching the circles.

It is only important that paths overlap for Inkscape to recognise enclosed shapes.
