Hi. Apologies for the basic question. Im editing an ai file (poster) that someone has created. I have figured out how to edit text on part of the poster. But the main text featured below is giving me trouble. Whenever I click on the text with the selector tool it turns Ito a grey mesh made up of grey diamond shapes and no option to simply change the wording. I tried moving the black banner aside to reveal the text (which is in white) underneath. But the same thing happens. Could you please help. A few steps would be highly appreciated. Illustration below.
This is not the Selector tool but the Node tool you're using and the bad news is the Text is no longer a Text object but converted into paths. Which you can easily proof by trying to select with the Text tool.

Thank you. Can anything be done to edit the text? When the black boarder is shifted to the side the text appears to stay behind it. Any ideas?
Figured it out. Delete path. New Text. Thank you.
