    Good Afternoon,

    I am using Inkscape 1.0.2-2 (e86c870879, 2021-01-15) on Windows.

I am attempting to replicate a particular neon-glow style and apply it to generic shapes.

    Examples:

My lack of graphic design experience is holding me back on this deceptively simple task.

I have been experimenting with the preset-filters. At first I was trying the neon draw option but playing with the settings I couldn't quite achieve the same look. I've since started trying to apply blurs and glows which while I'm getting closer doesn't feel like I'm doing this with any sort of logic and just hammering away with trial error.

How would you handle applying this effect to simple geometric shapes?

I usually don't use filters, if possible. In this case I think you can use three instances of your shape, top to bottom: a thinner one, almost white, a second one (that gives the overall aspect of the shape), with light base color (es, light green), a third one, the bigger, in the background, blurred, light green (maybe a little darker than the previous). With some trim you'll able to reach the results YOU (and not the filter) want.

Thanks Marco Riva, good advice This was just with the same colour https://imgur.com/a/w4uczcg but it's already a lot closer to what I'm going for.
