Ok, the title is mis-leading and I'm not sure if this is even an issue with inkscape. But I thought I would start here. I'm having an issue in a corner case type setting. We are using inkscape to do the lettering on a comic book. Inkscape has been doing a great job so far. I can save the SVG as a PDF and when I view it everything is there. everything looks good. The issue comes when I upload it to our shared google drive and try to view the PDF on my iphone. if I log in with my PC again everything is as it should be. it's only when I try and view it on my mobile device. I downloaded the acrobat app onto my phone and when I open the PDF with the acrobat app everything looks as it should. so just to sum up. when viewing the saved PDF using the default PDF viewer for the google drive app on my iphone some images of the PDF are missing.
Text is what is missing. but the font is the same throughout. I thought that when you do a save as .pdf it flattens the svg file to an image file and exports if as a pdf.
another question. if I export the svg as a .png then open a new project and save that as a pdf. would I see data loss/add. would that mess up the resolution of the images.

Just a shot into the blue: could it be missing fonts and/or linked images instead of embedded ones?

1. You have to tell Inkscape to either embed fonts or Convert text to path (increase the file size but save to watch methinks)
2. The PDF will just contain a PNG - no vector data. A highres PNG would work of course.
